This may be our first look at Google’s next Android 12 OS

Android 12

It’s the month of February, and time for Google to release the developer preview of the next major Android update, Android 12. Before a major Android version is released, Google shares documentation and source code to the OEMs so that they can work on implementing it to their devices.

Today, A XDA Senior Member bought some attention to an alleged leaked early draft of a document that Google made to summarize changes in Android 12. These are some screenshots showcasing the new User Interface, however, it is recommended to take this with a pinch of salt, as there’s no authenticity of the screenshots.

Going by the images, Android 12 will get a major revamp in the UI with a more materialistic design using the new Google’s theming approach. One of the screenshots shows the new revamped notification panel, transparency is gone and we can see a very beige colour scheme throughout the panel.

The icons of the quick settings toggles are also revamped and notifications now have a separate view along with a revamped colour scheme and rounded corners. The number of quick settings in the notification tray has been reduced from 5 to 4. There’s an addition for camera and microphone status icons, which indicates when they are in use.

Apart from that, there are new revamped Privacy settings, containing toggles to disable the camera and mute the microphone. That said, there are some visual changes to our much loved Google Camera as well.

Moreover, we can now also see Conversation Widgets which provide access to “People Shortcuts” containing various information such as messages and missed calls. The Widget picker has also received a revamp. These changes can either be a theme or may have real default changes in the UI. Google is trying to implement these privacy measures in all devices.

That said, Google might be soon dropping the developer preview, and we recommend waiting for that to gain access to complete information.
