Realme 5 gets new update but it’s not the one you want

Realme 5 December Update

Realme has released a new update for its Realme 5 smartphone, which was first released in India two years ago. The newest security update is included in this update for the 5 series smartphone. While Realme is known to offer the most recent upgrades to not only the newly announced smartphones but also a few of the older handsets, the Realme 5 has not and will not receive the Realme UI 2.0 update.

This latest update for the Realme 5 arrives with a build number of RMX1971_11_F.05 and features the March 2022 security patch.  Optimizations for system stability and improvements in the overall performance of the Realme 5 are also included. Furthermore, the update fixes up to over 50 vulnerabilities and many known bugs and issues on the smartphone. Here’s the F.05 update changelog:

  • Security
    • Integrates the March 2022 Android security patch.
  • System
    • Optimized the system performance and improved the system stability.

The key specifications of this two-year-old Realme 5 smartphone include a 6.5 inches IPS LCD, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor coupled with up to 4 GB of RAM, and up to 128 GB of onboard storage. The device features quad cameras of 12+8+2+2MP and has a unique design.

If you are a Realme 5 user in India, you can check for the OTA software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. Alternatively, a clean install of the software can be done after downloading the latest firmware file from realme’s database and flashing it manually.

The Realme 5 won’t be receiving the realme UI 2.0 update. The is a disheartening piece of news for the fans and users of the Realme 5, 5s,5i and even the Realme 3 which shipped with Android 9 Pie on board and as per the company’s policies should have been eligible for at least 2 major OS updates.
