Realme 8 5G to feature Dimensity 700 SoC, 90Hz display, 48MP camera and more

Yesterday, we covered a report where it was revealed that the Realme 8 5G will launch on April 22nd in India and today the company has put out a teaser in Thailand, confirming the launch date to be April 21st.

Today, as per @Gadgetsdata on Twitter, the Realme 8 5G will feature the Dimensity 700 SoC along with a 6.5-inch 90Hz FHD+ IPS LCD panel on the front. As for the optics, the tipster reveals that the phone would sport a 48-megapixel primary and dual 2-megapixel shooters on the rear.

Moreover, the battery capacity is tipped to be sized at 5,000mAh. However, he does reveal any information about the front-facing shooter and the charging speed.

GSMArena also spotted the smartphone with model number RMX3241 on Geekbench, running on Android 11 with 8GB RAM onboard. It reconfirms the phone’s chipset, that is the MediaTek’s MT6833V/ZA, which is a part of the Dimensity 700 SoC

The Geekbench listings don’t reveal any other specs of the Realme 8 5G, but thanks to FCC, there’s confirmation that the smartphone will come with a 5,000 mAh battery, side-mounted fingerprint reader, and NFC. It will be reported being thicker and heavier than its 4G counterpart, which is 8mm thin and weighs 177 grams.

Architecture-wise, the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC is very similar to the Dimensity 720. The SoC packs in two high-performance ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, along with six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. It is also claimed to be capable of being paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM at a frequency of 2,133MHz and UFS 2.2 dual-lane storage, along with up to 1Gbps transfer speeds.
