Meta Owned Whatsapp Working on Polls Feature to Group Chats

This year, WhatsApp has received a slew of enhancements, including tweaks to the camera UI and a new global voice player. The messaging service, which is owned by Meta, is now working on adding a new poll function to group chats. WhatsApp, on the other hand, hasn’t specified a particular launch date for this new function. Let’s take a look at the latest news about WhatsApp’s imminent upgrade with the new poll feature in this post.

Whatsapp May Add Polls to Group Chats with the Upcoming Update

The Poll Feature first appeared on the WABetainfo forum, which is constantly updated with information about forthcoming updates. This new functionality was discovered in WhatsApp build version v2.22.6.70, which is currently in development. The functionality, however, has not yet reached the public beta level.

Apart from the developers, no testers have tried out this new functionality because the upgrade did not make it to the public beta stages. This new feature allows users to establish a poll in a WhatsApp group with a question and numerous options. A piece of the functionality has been disclosed in the WABetainfo screenshot, which shows a column to write a question for establishing a poll.

There’s currently no word on whether any more adjustments, such as the maximum number of poll options, restrictions on the number of responses, how long people may vote for, or how many polls can be created at once, will be added. The voting feature, on the other hand, is limited to working only in group chats and does not appear in individual chats.

End-to-end encryption will be available for polls created in group conversations, and they may be available soon for iOS devices first, followed by Android. Since its inception, Telegram, WhatsApp’s competitor messenger app, has made this capability available to users. Other enhancements on the way include reaction choices for individual texts, which has been long overdue on WhatsApp.
