The streaming application lets its users stream a plethora of HD Live TV Channels (including Sony, Star Sports, among others) without purchasing a DTH connection. In this day and age where users are shifting to streaming services like Netflix and Hotstar, you may still wish to have Live TV Channels in your Smart TV or Laptop without paying a subscription fee.
While JioTV is available for free on Android and iOS smartphones, there’s not an application available for the AndroidTV or Laptop interface. One solution is to get the Jio Smart Setup Box, but you’ll require a Jio Fiber connection to make that happen. How to Download and Install JioTV App on a Smart TV
Jio TV is not directly available for download on the Play Store for Android TVs. Reliance has not yet developed an official application for Smart TVs. However, there’s a workaround using which you could reap the benefits of JioTV on your streaming stick/Android TV. Here’s how you can install JioTV for your Smart TV.
Configuring Kodi for Jio TV APK
- Start by opening the Google Play Store application on your Android TV and searching for the Kodi application.
- Next, navigate, download and install the Kodi application on your Smart TV.
- Now, open the app and select Settings > File Manager, and choose Add Source.
- Under the Add Source box, key in https://kodi.botallen.com and name it BotAllen.
- Next, head over to the Add-ons option from the Settings menu and click on Install from a ZIP file.
- Choose BotAllen and then select repository.botallen zip file on the new page.
- Once done, visit the Add-ons page once again and click on Install from the repository.
- Next, select BotAllen Repository and click on Video Add-ons and tap on JioTV.
- Wait till the repository installs the application in the Kodi TV app.
Configuring for Jio TV
- Once the installation above mentioned installation is complete, you’ll notice an option to configure when you launch JioTV in the Kodi app.
- Continue with the configuration and then head over to the PVR Client. Download the Client from the menus.
- Once downloaded, navigate to the Login option under Configure and select keyboard and then OTP.
- Here, enter the Jio mobile number that has an active plan and click on send OTP.
- You will receive an OTP to your registered Jio SIM number, enter the OTP on the Jio TV app on your smart TV. You may also log in with your Jio ID and password.
- With this, you should now be able to open and run Jio TV on your manufacturer’s smart TV.
